TapirMD is a powerful markup language which supports rich inline styling and a wide range of common block types. It also addresses many other frequently requested features and details that content creators often need.

TapirMD is also known as Tapir's Markup Doc, or TMD for short.

In addition to its primary goal of being powerful, TapirMD pursues several other key objectives:

Good readability.
- All marks consist of ASCII punctuation characters.
- Minimizes non-content text to enhance readibilty in source mode.
- Line indentations have no semantic meaning.
Good extensibility. TapirMD supports custom block kind and custom URL generation.
Fast parsing. Each TapirMD document can be parsed and generated (to HTML) both in a single pass.
All functionalities can be implemented without using JavaScript.
